About Daniel (Danny) Marroquin

I am a 30-year-old freelance  journalist/writer currently living in Oklahoma City. I also teach in schools (public as a sub and vo tech for media studies). I was trained by books (with a passion for reading) and by demanding and smart journalism professors at The University of Oklahoma.  For this blog I’m focusing on films as a central topic. I’ve taken to writing about all varieties of film after beginning a side hobby of moviemaking with a Do-It-Yourself outfit here. Our highest achievement was playing our finished movie, TARSUS, as the monthly feature at New Filmmakers Los Angeles. I played a crack addict named Johnny who wasn’t a very good sponsor.

There’s a podcasting class in the works, so I’ll be posting radio, or podcast, installments of Table Talk with Danny on here starting in August (2015).

I’ve noticed some really good #personal entries on the blogosphere. I may dabble in that sort of thing, but having recently gone through a life-changing event, I find myself trying to shape a lot of my memories into fiction, or perfecting the writing of them somehow for a future creative project. So pardon if I am stingy with getting to know you blog offerings.
